Christmas.

We had a lovely but different kind of Christmas here in the Weiseth house. This was the first year that we have been away from family for the holiday, so it was really pretty strange to wake up in our own house on Christmas morning. My parents stayed in Austin. Erik's mom went to Palm Desert. Erik's dad stayed in Placerville with his wife's family. Not that we can blame anyone, everyone converged on Portland when Rowan was born so, it made sense that nobody made the pilgrimage back to northern Oregon for Christmas. All the same, it was weird to just have us in the house.

We hung out with friends a lot! We spent Christmas Eve with the Costello's, we hosted a brunch on Christmas morning, then spend Christmas dinner with the Kearns and McKinleys. It was so awesome to be around so many good friends for the holidays since we couldn't be near family this year.

We got a few great presents as well! We scored an AppleTV, which we've been talking about investing in for a long time (we're getting rid of cable on January 1... more on that at a later post). Erik got a lot of practical stuff for the house & cars, I got some gift certificates, and Rowan got a ton of stuff! His favorite so far is his tummy mat from Grammy Karen. He's pretty stoked, if you can't tell:

Yep, that's our little man. He is growing at a ridiculous rate. Seriously. He is LONG. Really long. He has outgrown all of his clothes in length already, none of his onesies fit him. He swims in them around the midsection because he's so skinny, but it's hard to find baby clothes specifically tailored to long, thin children. And by "hard to find," I mean they don't exist.

Rowan is doing great. He eats a ton, sleeps well (only getting up once in the middle of the night these days), and he's started to smile and respond to us. He's not a fussy baby, he only cries when he wants one of three things:  food, sleep or a clean diaper. If he has all of those things, he's totally happy and content! Easy baby, thank God. After the pregnancy I had, I think I'm owed a little bit of a break. I've paid my dues, I think.

So that's the latest around here! The boy is starting to get a little grouchy, so that means its time for a nap. More soon...
