Bellies
Alright peeps, here I am at about 29 weeks. Can you believe it?! 29 weeks! It's amazing how time flies by when you spend a nice chunk of your pregnancy in a drugged stupor. Anyway, pardon the bad quality. I didn't feel like busting out the big camera for the sake of taking unflattering pictures of myself... so you're stuck with some iPhone photos.
Here's a side view.
And here's some full frontal for ya. Just kidding. Not FULL frontal... but I've gotten some requests from some who have wanted to see the scar, so here you go.
Pretty gnarls, eh? It's the sexiest when it splits open right beneath my belly button. Unfortunately that small section of the incision is losing the race against time and healing... which means I'm growing faster than that little area can heal. And I swear to the heavens above, if another pregnant woman wants to bitch to me about stretch marks, I might punch them in the throat. Because MY scar, friends, is all 7 inches of scalpel-born permanence.
Bangs
Also, please take note of the new bangs. My lovely hair stylist Jena, at Dosha Salon in the NW district, adorned me with them yesterday. She said they were necessary and they'll make me look like a cooler, and much edgier mom. So of course, I let her have her way with me. You likey?
New Music
For those of you that know me, I'm usually pretty ahead of the curve on the music scene. I love listening to new bands & musicians, trying to figure out who their influences are and what stories hide behind their songs. But apparently, I have missed the boat on one lovely artist by the name of Rosie Thomas. Holy freakin' crap, where have I BEEN? She's got multiple albums out, and her last one was released in 2006. I downloaded the album If Songs Could Be Held and it has been a constant companion the past few weeks. Raw talent is exposed wide open on that album, I encourage you to give it a listen.
Also worthy of note is Derek Webb's new album Stockholm Syndrome. Not familiar with Derek Webb? He was one of the founding members of Caedmon's Call, a big-time Christian band out of Nashville, and married to another singer-songwriter by the name of Sandra McCracken. He branched out on some solo work for a few years. His newest album was deemed "too controversial" for his label to release, so he released it on his own. It is fantastic, by every sense of the word. Very different than his previous work, but nonetheless brilliant.
Okay friends, I'll write more tonight. Until then...
