Book Writing

|
I'm in the process of writing a book.

It's one of my life goals... to write a book. I don't care if it gets published or not, but just the simple (or not so simple, as I'm learning) act of writing at length, is something that I've always wanted to do. I wrote an honors thesis & an independent study thesis... both about 60-80 pages in length, but that was different. I HAD to do that to graduate. I guess I never thought that I had much to say. I probably don't. But I'm very passionate about women walking through life with other women. In specifics, I think its important for younger women to be mentored by older women.

However, not only am I writing a book... my mentor, Nancy, and myself are in the process of starting a ministry. More on that in a minute. But it piggy-backs the book idea.

The premise of the book & ministry lie in that simple truth. Not only is it important and valuable, but in Titus chapter 2 verse 3, Scripture is clear that older generations of women are to teach the younger. There's not much of that going on within the church, and it's frustrating, because it's wanted and needed... but nobody is speaking up! I think this is true for 2 reasons: The first being that older women don't feel like they have much to offer to younger women, and they're afraid of making themselves available. The second being that the younger women don't see the value of having an older women in their life, and they're afraid to ask.

For the last few years of my college career, I was a part of women's bible study, The Red Tent, as we called it. It was one of the most life-giving experiences of my life and out of that experience, I gained my greatest friend and mentor, Nancy.

Nancy and I, through our passion for mentoring women and walking with women, decided that we're going to start a ministry. We're not sure what it looks like in a physical form, but we do know that we want to equip and empower women to live life and speak Truth to and with other women. It's vague, I know. But we're working on it, piece by piece. We'll update you on the process.

It is my hope and prayer that this experience and its importance are vividly conveyed through my writing, and through this new ministry that Nancy and I are hoping to build up. I'm not a great writer by any stretch of the imagination. But perhaps from time to time, I'll post a few sections of my writing here for your perusal.

Perhaps.
