I have recently started another blog!
I know, I know... how many blogs can one person have in her lifetime?!
However, this blog is one that is entrenched in purpose. Every other blog I've had has been more to update people on my life and what's happening here in Portland. This new blog will have some of that, but the goal is to engage women on a different level.
After talking with women, sharing the types of things Erik and I like to do in our spare time, or talking about the adventures we've been on, I have grown so tired of them responding with, "I wish I could be more outdoorsy."
The goal of this blog is to encourage women... whether they're single, married, with or without kids... to step outside their front door and get outside. You don't have to hike to the top of Mt. Hood or jump off huge cliffs on skis to live an outdoor lifestyle. You just need a pair of shoes and the spirit to go wherever you feel like you want to go!
Women have become complacent with sitting at home, being inactive and not engaging with the world, people or creation around them. I hope to encourage them to do something about it, especially if they have children. It's my deep belief that kids need to grow up experiencing these things. They need to ride their bikes in the rain, climb fences & trees, scrape their knees, and open their eyes. They'll never learn to do those things unless we, as mothers, lead the way and live a little.
So anyway... I'll be writing over there much more than here, simply because I hope that The Outdoor Wife blog will begin to take shape and start influencing women to get out and live! If you, or anyone you know, would maybe benefit from that type of mentality, send them to that web address.
